Custom Retaining Rings and Wave Springs for Your Application

At Rotor Clip, we know every project has its own set of challenges. While we offer a wide range of standard retaining rings and wave springs, sometimes off-the-shelf parts just won’t cut it! That’s where customization comes in, allowing us to tailor parts precisely to what your application needs.

Our engineers get involved early to understand what matters most for your design, whether it’s saving space, handling heavier loads, or meeting tricky installation requirements. You can expect the same level of service and quality for custom parts as you do for standard ones at every step of the process with Rotor Clip.

A Real Customer Challenge

A Rotor Clip customer needed a beveled retaining ring to reduce endplay and vibration in their application. Their shaft diameter required a design adjustment beyond standard offerings and installing a standard retaining ring would have caused deformation and failure. By working together early in the process, our engineers created a custom ring that maintained its shape during installation and ensured reliable and long-term performance of the application.

The InterShim Wave Spring – Designed Specifically for E-Mobility Applications

A customer was facing performance issues in their e-mobility application due to high torsional loads and tight tolerance requirements. To solve the problem, Rotor Clip engineers developed the patented InterShim wave spring. Designed with alternating active and inactive turns, a specific wave count, and specialty alloy, the InterShim meets the demands of EV and e-mobility systems while improving assembly and long-term reliability. It’s just one example of how Rotor Clip continues to innovate and deliver custom solutions across industries.

Retaining Rings (Circlips, Snap Rings)

Retaining rings must fit unique groove dimensions, shaft or bore sizes, and load conditions. Our engineers adjust thickness, materials, finishes, and end configurations to optimize fit and function. These modifications can be made quickly and effectively, avoiding the need for special tooling.

Spiral Rings

Spiral rings are formed from a continuous coil, allowing easy adjustments to diameter, thickness, material, and finish without the need for special tooling. This flexibility makes customizing for unique groove sizes, shaft or bore diameters, and load requirements straightforward. We can also incorporate locking and balance features to support applications with high rotational demands. This approach reduces material waste, helping to lower costs while ensuring a precise fit and dependable performance.

Wave Springs

Looking for a spring solution that saves space while meeting precise load and cycle life requirements? Wave springs offer extensive customization thanks to their coiled design. Engineers can adjust spring force and work heights by specifying the number of waves, turns, and materials to fit your specific needs. This flexibility enables quick prototyping and scalable production without the need for special tooling.
