In January 2016 Rotor Clip, in association with ATMAE-The Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering, announced an engineering contest to various colleges and universities across the U.S. 

The contest required individuals or teams to design an original device using 10 Rotor Clip retaining rings, like a ticking clock or a working toy. The device had to display motion or movement in order to be considered. Contestants were given access to 24 standard, tapered inch type rings displayed on our website in the axial, radial, and self-locking categories. The design could utilize more than 10 rings if needed. 

The deadline for the contest was April 1st, 2016 at midnight. Contestants from colleges and Universities sent in their designs, some up until the last minute of the deadline. The judges of the contest are four Rotor Clip engineers who on April 15th, 2016 picked the 5 finalists. The finalists have been contacted and the next step is an online presentation of their designs to the panel of judges.

On May 1st the four judges will announce the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, and will be announced on Rotor Clip’s social media pages. 

Rotor Clip applauds the efforts of the students who participated. The ideas submitted demonstrated the knowledge of our rings as well as a grasp of sound engineering principles.
