Rotor Clip is the only retaining ring manufacturer that makes all three types, so we will not waste your time trying to sell you a certain ring because it happens to be the only one we make.  It's all about the application and what is needed to make it work.  Tapered, Spiral, Constant Section...one isn't "better" than the other.  One type may, however, save money if the right ring is selected.

Rotor Clip suggested the use of one of their USC external constant section retaining rings, with no lugs and a smaller shoulder. The engineer was able to retain the shaft securely wihtin the bore without any interference.

Rotor Clip was able to help the engineer choose the proper ring for the application and lower costs by proving a solution from its standard retaining ring line; avoiding a more costly special ring.
